Matthew Carr  - Vice President

Matthew Carr is a senior at Skyline High School and has been learning Chinese for four years. He became interested in learning Chinese by traveling to China in 2018 to see the interesting culture. He enjoys hiking, playing videogames, sports, and works as a Lifeguard and a Swim Instructor. 

Natalie Cui  - Member at Large

My name is Natalie Cui. I’m a 7th grader at Pine Lake Middle School. I enjoy drawing, playing piano, and learning new languages. I am glad that I can volunteer for WAACE as it allows me to work with so many amazing teachers and students.

Jack Haines  - Secretary

Jack Haines is a senior at Skyline High School and has been learning to speak Chinese for four years now. He got interested in learning Chinese for his future and plans to try and become fluent. He enjoys making videos as well as playing games, and is excited to help with the WAACE.

Josie Riskin - President

Hi! My name is Josie Riskin and I am a 12th grader at Skyline High school. I have been learning Chinese for 4 years now and I enjoy tutoring kids from China in English. I hope to study in New York for college and eventually study abroad and travel to China. Outside of school I enjoy watching anime and working at Chipotle. Thank you!

Erika Ni  - Member at Large

Erika Ni is a junior at Interlake High School. She speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, and has been pursuing French since middle school. She is grateful for the opportunity to have helped make the Why Learn Chinese competition happen. Outside of WAACE, you can find Erika taking naps, teaching art class, and playing volleyball. 

Max Fan  - Member at Large

My name is Max Fan, and I was born in China. I am thirteen years old this year and go to Cougar Mountain Middle school. I enjoy coding and robotics. I have been studying Chinese for my whole life, and I feel like it’s a very wonderful experience to learn a new language and be able to communicate fluently with that language.
