Chinese Expo 2016 hosted by Skyline High School
The 2016 Chinese Expo was held on October 23 at Skyline High School, hosted by the Skyline Chinese class, the Skyline Chinese club, and the students of the Chinese language departments around the Washington State. This student-created event celebrates the rich learning that is happening in schools, as well as achievements of students that extend beyond the classroom. There were various booths representing different cities and provinces of China that showcased that location’s special characteristics. Skyline High School was packed with excited students and families as they explored Chinese culture through its diversity in delicious Chinese food, Chinese operas, Chinese folk dances, traditional games, Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, crafts, Taichi, lion dance, and prizes.
Lt. Governor Brad Owen, Mayor Don Gerend, Education Consul of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in San Francisco Jun Yang, Senator Bob Hasegawa, Superintendent Ron Thiele, Skyline High School Principal Donna Hood, and leaders of local organizations joined the community in celebrating Chinese culture.
The afternoon concluded with an impressive traditional Chinese bamboo dance.
